19/03/2007 - TWOFOUR'S MyCBBC PROJECT GOES LIVE

MyCBBC, one of the first completely safe social networking sites for the under twelves has gone live. Created by Twofour for the BBC the soft launch took place yesterday afternoon and the initial response, posted on CBBC message boards, has been really positive. Over the next few months MyCBBC will become the centrepiece of the CBBC website. So if you know any kids direct them to www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/mycbbc and see how exciting they can make their den - mixing and matching from a selection of themed furniture (there's already been talk of a leaf sofa!), wallpaper, flooring, posters and objects. They will also be able to create their own profile with an avatar and invite friends into their den.

MyCBBC is a safe introduction to social networking for children, designed to involve a new audience in the latest technology. The site will not allow free text, does not allow sharing of personal data and ensures that children have complete control over who can see their dens, so parents can be confident their children will be able to share online friendships safely and without supervision.
